mmmmm, negative news only, well, I have 2010 sport model,no frills attached,(manafacture date 02/11) running 20 inch low profiles, looks gangster, handles great and hasn’t missed a beat, it’s a manual and I find the 2.5lt ample for running round town and it cruises nicely along the hwy on the speed limit with plenty left to overtake when droping back a gear or 2. Must admit it lacks a few features inside compared some others in it’s class, but its a jeep, and it lives up to it’s name. No need to put a 4×4 badge on it, it is just accepted as such, perfect as weekender come city runaround if your not into serious off roading.

*****WARNING***** Never Purchase a Jeep FULL STOP.

Bought a Patriot end 2009 and at 12 month mark was on its 3rd Gearbox. Multiple oil leaks, heat from air vents melted the dash, and was then offered $13500 trade in at 12 month period. Not to mention the service teams at Bayside Jeep in Frankston Victoria, and James Frizelle’s Automotive Group (JEEP)(GOLD COAST) are both RUDE, INCOMPETENT, LAZY, USELESS and most importantly F&*KIN PATHETIC.

EG 1. Took 6 months, 47 phone calls, 18 (64km) round trips, 2 phone calls to ombudsman and a meeting with the General Manager to have the Dash replaced.

EG 2. Booked car in on Gold Coast for a service on road trip from MELBOURNE to AIRLIE BEACH 4 weeks in advance and requested cruise control be fitted. On arrival at James Frizelle’s Automotive Group they asked if i still required the Cruise Control to which i replied yes. At 3pm, they phoned to enlighten me they didn’t have cruise control and couldn’t fit it for 4 days because it was to come from MELBOURNE. I stayed on GC for 1 night. Had i known this i would have bloody well brought the parts from MELBOURNE with me.

Jeep is a bloody joke. When the warranty is up, i will be selling the piece of shit privately and buying anything else that does not come under the MERCEDES GROUP BANNER.

I have just returned from Hawaii where I hired a current model Jeep Patriot 2.4i auto. It only had 20K (miles) on the clock yet it exhibited serious worn bearing noises from its drive train at all speeds above 30 mph. It was underpowered taking ages to reach 55 mph. Only good points were the safety features and a sensation of great grip on the many winding, wet and tricky roads on the Hawaiian Big Island. I will stick to Toyota 4x4s personally.

Hi – HIGHLY STRESS TO ALL NEVER BUY A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT.
I bought mine at NORTHERN MOTOR GROUP – TERRIBLE AFTER SALES SERVICE!!!

I bought a brand new MK SPORTS PATRIOT IN JULY 2010.

It has had fault after fault – with none of them ever being fixed – they book my car in (hardly ever get a loan car, which if I do is a dump anyway), they say they know what the problem is, they order a part (from a different Country every time and always takes weeks), they book my car back in and when I get it back after the part has arrived – it has the same problem and then develops a new fault within minutes.

I have never been able to tell how much petrol I have – the fuel gage changes every few minutes but likes to stay on empty as much as possible so I am always frantically unsure of if I am about to run out. I have had a malfunction light come on and off for months, the engine shudders, the other day it completely cut out (and luckily after a few minutes started again), and when I call Jeep to complain they hand up on me -turns out two very unpolite woman work there and there only training is to hang up on people.

It appears exhausting their customers is Jeep’s speciality and Northern Motor Group have been nothing but unhelpful – all they say is they “understand” but fail to fix it. They were quite happy to take my money but apart from one polite man in the service centre, the rest of them are horrible to deal with.

They even admitted that Jeep won’t allow them to order the part it probably is because it is an expensive part and thus they have to replace other parts first to rule out it isn’t them!

They love to talk about a computer they have that they plug in to determine faults – funny thing is they haven’t fixed it, so this lovely tool they have sure hasn’t helped me.

I am fed up., exhausted and am now having nightmares about the dealership. I actually dreamt last night that they accused me of it all being in my head and i was trying to find the photos of the warning lights it randomly chooses and couldn’t find the photos in my phone) thank god I woke up this morning and realised I still have them.

This is terrible, as a consumer we are not protected against cars that are obviously not NEW and not what they are sold as.

I am stumped, am worn out, am frustrated and saddened.

After losing my partner in a car accident in May I bought a new car to avoid problems and stress – I certainly haven’t avoided either of those with buying a Jeep. I can’t stress enough to the consumers of Australia – if you want a new car don’t go to Jeep and certainly don’t buy a car from Northern Motor Group – they just don’t care about you once you hand over the money.

And sadly Victoria doesn’t protect innocent consumers from any of this happening!

I like the squared design, suits the brand and category. That signature grill is synonomous with the brand, any other would be unpatriotic to Jeep’s heritage. It’s a pity about the quality though, as I like this over the many rice small SUVs. I should test drive one of these anyway, having previously driven a Tiguan-nice drive but no feedback from steering and boot a bit small.

Wow – I wonder if others have had the same experinces we have had with our Jeeps now that the Patriot has been out for a while. We have 2 Patriots (and a Cherokee) the Patriots are almost 2 years old for the automatic and just on one year old for the Manual. The Manual had it’s clutch replaced at 30,000 kmm at a cost to us of $1500. ONE WEEK later – it went again – another $1500. But no parts are kept in Australia for these (according to Jeep Customer Service Reps). So I guess it will take another 4 or so weeks for the parts to arrive – just like last time. Before you say it – the vehicle is used as a town car and not an offroader – They were purchased because of the safety features. I guess they have the best safety feature of all – they can’t be driven very much.

It seems that every time we get work done on our Jeeps the parts take a very long time to arrive, the warranty is effectively useless and it is just too bad for the poor cinsumer. Luckily, Jeep assist is a GREAT service – which is a good thing because they are often needed.

Good luck to anyone buying this brand – consider the spare parts situation very carefully.
