Mitsubishi is recalling six of its 2014 model-year ‘PC’ Challenger SUVs over concerns that the child seat anchor points do not comply with Australian regulations.
The Japanese manufacturer reports that the weld nuts for the child restraint anchor may be missing on both the driver and passenger side rear anchor points, which violates Australian regulations.
If the vehicle has the defect, customers may not be able to correctly install a child restraint, increasing the young passenger’s risk of injury.
The handful of affected vehicles have the following VIN numbers; MMAGYKH40EFF003806, MMAGYKH40EF003807, MMAGYKH40EF003808, MMAGYKH40EF003809, MMAGYKH40EF003810, AND MMAGYKH40EF003811.
Mitsubishi will contact affected owners, while customers who require further information can contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1300 1312 11.
The Challenger has now been replaced in Australia by the new-generation Pajero Sport.
