Ex-Tesla, Harley-Davidson executive joins Aston Martin

October 14, 2009 by Matt Brogan

Aston Martin has hired ex-Tesla executive Mr Michael van der Sande as its new chief commercial officer.

Mr van der Sande previously served as head of Harley-Davidson’s European operations before taking over as Tesla’s senior vice president for marketing, a job he held for less than a year.

To be based at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ, Mr van der Sande “will help us to further develop Aston Martin’s presence around the world” according to company CEO Mr Ulrich Bez.

Aston Martin, like most high-end manufacturers, has been hit especially hard by the global recession with US sales down to less than half of what they were a year ago.
