2015-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled for brake fix

Jeep has recalled 27 of its WK Grand Cherokee SUVs in Australia over concerns that a brake caliper may rupture.

The American manufacturer reports that the left front brake caliper may have been cast from an incorrect material during the production process.

As a result, there is a potential for the caliper housing to rupture during extreme brake application, which poses a hazard to drivers and other road users.

Affected vehicles were built during 2015 and 2016. Fiat Chrysler Australia (FCA) will notify owners of affected vehicles to present their Grand Cherokee to a local Jeep dealership to be repaired.

This recall is the eighth FCA recall this year and the second Grand Cherokee recall for 2016. However, the previous recall affected Grand Cherokees built between 2011 and 2013.
