2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio joins Carabinieri fleet

Two Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio sedans were presented this week to the Carabinieri, Italy's military police force.

The two high-performance sedans will be used by the Carabinieri in Rome and Milan to transport organs and blood, as well as for special operations such as acting as a police escort during events and ceremonies.

Aside from the special paint job that includes red stripes and white lettering, the Carabinieri's Giulia Quadrifoglio is also fitted with a roof-mounted LED light strip, defibrillator, portable cooling units for carrying human supplies, radio equipment, video-recording gear and rechargeable LED torches.

The new Giulia Quadrifoglio is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. The Ferrari developed engine develops 375kW of power and 600Nm, which is good for a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds.

The range-topping Giulia is the latest in a long line of Alfas to have graced the Carabinieri's fleet,

Fiat Chrysler will deliver a total 800 cars to the Carabinieri this year, with copies of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Jeep Renegade making up the bulk of the new additions.

Australia

The Giulia range, in both regular and Quadrifoglio versions, will go on sale in Australia from "early 2017".
