BMW Simple Concept Video
October 12, 2009 by Alborz Fallah
Seems like single seat car/bike vehicles are on the way with BMW releasing a video of last year’s “Simple Concept”. A vehicle designed with a similar idea in mind as the Nissan Land Glider (which will be on display at the Tokyo Motorshow next week).
Given how so many commuters travel by themselves, why not produce a comfortable vehicle that is a single seater with low energy consumption? BMW’s idea is to create a vehicle that combines the features and advantages of both motorcars and motorcycles.
The Simple Concept sits as high as a 5-series but is shorter than a Mini Cooper meanwhile only using 2-litre of fuel per 100 km and emitting around 50g CO2 /100 km (nearly half of the Toyota Prius). Of course that all makes sense given it only weighs 450 kg and has an 0,18 drag aerodynamic drag coefficient.
Check out the video below:

Great idea, makes perfect sense for city commuting. Lets hope it goes into production.
I rather prefer the Glider which does not look like sheets of metal joined together.
About time. I can’t believe that there are no tiny 1 seater (or 2 inline) vehicles available other than motorcycles/scooters. On a narrow, light vehicles like that there is the potential for huge economy gains.
Awesome! Concept sounds very practical…
looks very agile but i always imagined it with 2 wheels up front and 1 wheel up the back and the front ones would tilt
