I like the idea of Toyota finally making a sports car for once, but I think I would rather buy a old used 80's ae86 then the new one, I don't think it could be complete without the 4AG. I have a '87 MR2 with the 4AG and I absolutely love it.

I would rather it if it looked like the old 86. This one looks a bit too.. sharp. The old one had that unassuming, boring appeal to it. You know, under the radar. Unlike the new Supra coming out. I would prefer that. But kudos to Toyota for bringing back a simple rear drive car. Though i'm a Nissan guy, the first cars i owned were Toyotas, let's hope the bring this out in time to compete with the new Silvia.. whenever that's supposed to be released.

Althought this looks good, I still won't buy it.
On the contract I think the old one is the best.
In fact on my list of top 10 fav. cars it seats at #1.
On the count that the AE86 is what get me in to cars and Drift racing and the car is awesome with low hp but who needs hp in a car like that lol!

Plus let me say my top10 are all JDM and they are high reving cars and sporty and to me the old AE86 is still better.

I don't Think this new car is going to make it very well with the people of the car world that knows alot about the old AE86.
By the way yes i'm a Teenager who is 17 and had two cars already both were Honda a 06 Civic Ex and now an 07 Civic Si. But after college i plan on buying the old AE86!

What’s nice about an AE86:
Simple
Easy to mod..
High RPM
RWD
Nice Balance
THE WONDERFULL SOUND OF A G ENGINE

About (old 86)¨s, i agree with you, i also like things to be simple, but unfortunately things have changed since the release of the classic AE86. Now days Car firms must accomplish some safety standards like air bags ABS, crash absorption, emission regulations etc... If a new ae86 is really released I think it wouldn’t be even close in achieving the feeling of a classic AE86.

Well, Ive had my 1983 ae86 since 1990. I converted it in about 1991 or so. 420,000klms since.
It gets as hot as in the summer.. no a/c. But I'll not install it. I want to keep it basic. I hardly listen to the stereo.. I rather just enjoy the wonderful sound of that brilliantly basic 4AGE with the 2in straight through.
Toyota always seem to design a car with definite possibilities, but then either make a basic version with nothing in it,or get some KW's in and dump a whole lot of otherwise useless junk... electric windows,aerials,mirrors.. oh for God's sake! Stick your hand out and pull the aerial up!! Wind the window yourself and who needs to adjust the mirrors more than every 3 months or so.. so what's with the electrics??
CHUCK 'EM I SAY!!!!
Give me KW. Give me LSD... decent brakes ,balanced handling etc... Give me basic cloth trim...but dump the fuzzy stuff...
