2017 Hyundai Elantra SR spied without disguise
The recently confirmed Hyundai Elantra SR sports sedan has surfaced in its home country of South Korea this week, ahead of its coming Australian debut.
CarAdvice reported on Hyundai Australia’s plans for the newest addition to its pioneering SR range in February, when the company confirmed that buyers can look forward to what will essentially be a Veloster SR Turbo in sedan form.
Among the new flagship sedan’s enhancements will be a 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, along with seven-speed dual-clutch auto and six-speed manual transmissions, and a locally tuned chassis with an independent rear suspension system.
As those details reveal, the new model’s coming is no secret. These new images, however, offer the first-ever undisguised look at the new sports sedan.
Styling changes visible in these shots include new headlight internals and a new front bumper with enlarged faux intakes (and fog-light bezels) either side of the grille.
New multi-spoke alloy wheels and a sports braking package can also be seen, while the rear likewise gets revised lighting internals and a new bumper, with the latter showing a pair of exhaust finishers poking through at one corner.
Watch for the Elantra SR to make its Australian debut sometime in August or September, and catch our earlier coverage at the links below.
