2017 Honda CR-V spied testing
The new 2017 Honda CR-V has been spied testing in the US this week, some four years since the debut of the current fourth-generation model.
Spied in a surprisingly light layer of camouflage, this final-body prototype of the new 2017 CR-V reveals more than a few key details about its styling.
No surprise that an evolutionary look will feature, with a front-end design that both builds on the current CR-V’s styling while taking cues from the light Jazz hatch and the more recent new Civic range.
A tall upright face reaches back to large flared guards and a long A-pillar. Few details can be discerned through the centre, although a lightly tapered roofline and a fast-rising rear quarter window stand out.
At the rear, the CR-V’s familiar pillar-length lights now hook into the tailgate, Volvo style, while sharp aero-focused rear quarter panel ends extend into a ridged gate and hand grab space.
The option of a seven-seat layout will reportedly be offered with this new CR-V, and a hybrid variant has also been rumoured.
Expect the wider range to get a selection of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
Launch timing for the new CR-V is still to be revealed, but a late 2016 to early 2017 unveiling could be on the cards.
If so, an Australian market launch could occur in either the first or second half of 2017.
