Lexus IS250, GS300 recalled for fuel pressure sensor fix

Japanese luxury marque Lexus has recalled its model-year 2005-07 year IS250 and 2004-07 GS300 and sedans over concerns that a potential fuel leak that could start a fire.

The recall affects 7300 IS250s produced from August 2005 through September 2007 and 1000 GS300s built from December 2004 to August 2007.

Lexus reports that the fuel pressure sensor may not be tightened correctly, which could lead the sealing of the engine’s delivery pipe to degrade over time.

This could cause fuel to leak past the gasket and if exposed to an ignition source, increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

Affected IS250s fall between the VIN ranges BK26202000014 to BK26202060636 and BK26205000034 to BK26205052951, while the recalled GS300s and fall between the VIN ranges BH96S05000012 to BH96S05055540.

In a statement, Lexus said that there have been no reported incidents, injuries or vehicle fires reported in Australia as a result of this issue.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted through mail and notified to present their IS250/GS300 to their local Lexus dealer.

The dealer will install a new fuel pressure sensor gasket and tighten the fuel pressure to the correct torque.

Repairs are estimated to take between three and four hours, free of charge to impacted customers.
