2017 Renault Koleos replacement teased, Beijing debut expected

The replacement for Renault’s mid-sized Koleos SUV, rumoured to be called Maxthon, has come a step closer to its official unveiling.

A short new video clip released today offers a glimpse of what buyers can expect, although there’s little in the way of any particularly revealing details.

Quick views of the new SUV’s wheel and side windows are joined by a tightly cropped view of a headlight, although you’d be forgiven for thinking it might also be the new Megane or Talisman - both feature the same hooked design.

Earlier spy photos have been far more revealing, with new SUV clearly designed to be a larger and more accommodating model than the Koleos it will replace.

Renault’s now familiar family styling is evident even with heavy camouflage obscuring the details, which means we can expect muscular curves and wide proportions that create a purposeful look across the body.

The new SUV is expected to measure in at around 4.7 metres long, compared to around 4.5 metres for the current Koleos, and a third row of seating is expected to feature in some (if not all) markets as an optional extra.

With the new SUV expected to debut this week, an Australian market launch could occur either late in 2016 or in the first half of 2017.
