2017 Lexus IS facelift previewed ahead of Beijing debut

A shadowy teaser for the updated 2017 Lexus IS sedan has been handed down ahead of the 2016 Beijing motor show, revealing at least two familiar tweaks in the process.

Although a clear view of the full update is still to come, today’s teaser reveals a reshaped headlight design and a sharp new folder through each side of the front bumper.

The new shape of the headlights introduces a simplified look that does away with the wavy bottom edge featured with the lighting of the current IS range. Redesigned internals can also be seen, with a new arrangement of LED driving lights.

The update will be a familiar one to Lexus fans, with the larger GS sedan recently given the same treatment.

That sharp crease through the front bumper likely extends down to the side intakes, creating a bolder look that may be specific to F Sport models.

Further details are still to come, but, with the company’s new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine only recently joining the range, there are unlikely to be any significant powertrain changes.

Watch for all of the details to come at the Beijing motor show on April 24, and catch our Lexus IS coverage at the links below.

We can likely expect an Australian debut for the refreshed IS to occur in the first half of 2017.
