Art and cars:: Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE racers get bespoke badging

Aston Martin has revealed a selection of bespoke badges for the V8 Vantage GTEs entered in the upcoming World Endurance Championship. A different badge will adorn the three vehicles for each round of the premier endurance series.

Beginning at the upcoming six-hour held at Silverstone, the GTEs will carry a Union Jac-inspired badge before receiving different designs to commemorate the following eight rounds, including the marquee event, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The badges were created by Birmingham-based Jewellery Quarter using techniques both new and old. The jewellery makers took advantage of state-of-the-art computer-aided-design (CAD) equipment as well as age-old jewellery machinery, some dating back over 120 years, to create the one-of-a-kind badges.

After the badges were pressed and annealed for durability, the colours were applied by hand before being fired, polished and plated, ready to adorn the GTE.

The badges have been commissioned by the British car maker’s ‘Q by Aston Martin’ service, that offers buyers of its road-focussed vehicles the choice of a number of personalised options.

“Our service endeavours to provide customers with a range of unique and personalised options for their road cars and I’m proud to be able to bring a bespoke touch of luxury to our Aston Martin racing entries for the 2016 season,” Q by Aston Martin general manager, Dr. Matthew Bennett said.
