2016 Tesla Model S facelift to feature new seats, styling revisions – report
The Tesla Model S electric sedan will reportedly receive an update that includes lightly refreshed styling and upgrades for the interior.
Unnamed sources within the electric car maker have told CNET that a facelift for the Model S is in the pipeline. The company is reportedly in the process of clearing out soon-to-be-replaced parts, and the revised Model S could debut as early as this week.
On the outside, the revised Model S is said to sport a tweaked front-end incorporating new LED headlights, as well as a cleaner bumper and grille design that visually links it to the Model X crossover and the just unveiled Model 3. New paint options will also be offered on the updated Model S.
Also rumoured for the Model S are updates for the interior. Changes reportedly include more storage areas, including door pockets, and increasing the level of perceived luxury in the cabin.
In order to streamline production and reduce complexity at its plant in Fremont, California, the revised Model S will use the same front seats as the Model X, meaning that the refreshed Model S can be optioned up with ventilated front seats.
The tech website understands that the Model S facelift will be accompanied by a price increase. It's not known if the Model S update will incorporate any new tech features or drivetrain options, such as the P100D, references to which were found in a recent firmware update.
