2010 Alfa Romeo 169 rendered

By George Skentzos |

Alfa Romeo is preparing to replace its aging 166 with the new 169, seen here for the first time in these artists impressions.

The 169 will mark a complete departure from Alfa Romeo’s current styling direction and will set the tone for future large Alfa’s.

Likely to draw its inspiration from the Visconti concept first shown at the Geneva motor show in 2004, the 169 will follow the emerging trend of four-door coupes, competing with the likes of the BMW GT and Audi Sportback.

Automedia, Inh. Andreas Conradt e.K.

It will be available with a range of powerful petrol and diesel powerplants ranging from 185 to 335kW.

Among these is likely to be a V8 powerplant borrowed from Maserati with the 169 also expected to debut Alfa’s new Multiair V6 engine.

The Alfa 169′s resemblance to the current crop of Jaguar’s is no mere coincidence, with reports suggeting it may be underpinned by the superb Jaguar XF platform.

Looks good! Better than the Jag…

Dont think that about the front. the side profile and the rear definetley, but the front is just not Alfa enough. I really like the engine specs but, if the mulitair examples are anything to g by the new V6 should be superb.

Not Alfa enough? what the.. this couldn’t be anything but.
Man you come up with some complete sh..

I saw an XF today – pretty damn handsome car methinks.

  • Martin

Finally an Alfa Romeo I actually like the look of! Although I do quite like the Brera as well.

Alfa Romeo 169 it`s a nice italian car, but it`s not better than Jag…

This looks very bloated. I don’t think it’s going to look much like this and that thought makes me happy. It will probably have rounder headlamps and be a bit sharper looking. I think the Mito/8C type styling is where Alfa Romeo is going right now.

And just to throw my vote in, I think the Jaguar XF looks far better than this. I’ll wait for production images though as these are just renderings.

Woah that is nice as! Hopefully they get the electrics better with a rear wheel drive platform and I’ll buy one!

  • Wheelnut

The front and rear looks like a bastardised Jaguar. In profile it looks like a Aston Martin Rapide.. Although it looks alot better than the Maserati Sedan

The only Alfa I would even consider buying is the V6 Brera.. Or the Schigera but unfortunately that never went into production

  • Yanzo

i was gonna say, front lights remind me of a jag

I think it looks excellent. The tail lights could have more features, and it would be better in another colour, but other than that it is great.

  • alex

This looks completely different to every other rendering I have seen haha
But it is still attractive. If a little bland for an Alfa.

185-335 kw, Diesel and Alfa Romeo in the same sentence. Who are you trying to kid?

  • Jimmy James

what is the source of these images?

  • Marcoz

Hmmm not sure on these pics…too much like a jag from front…but sides ok…but v8 alfa BRING IT ON…. montreal of the new era…
