Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli recalled for accelerator pedal issue
Australian Maserati distributor, European Automotive Imports, has issued a recall for a number of its current-generation Quattroporte and Ghibli models over fears the accelerator pedal could become entrapped by the floor mat.
According to the manufacturer, the accelerator may become stuck under the floor mat during operation, which could cause the throttle to stay engaged once the driver's foot is lifted.
Should this occur, the driver could lose control of the vehicle posing a threat to occupants, pedestrians and other road users.
Ateco Australia says it is yet to record any instances of the issue occurring, however, 907 vehicles in Australia and 111 in New Zealand could be at risk.
Owners are advised to contact an authorised Maserati dealer to arrange the replacement of the floor mats and/or accelerator pedal, as required.
Models that may need their accelerator pedal cover changed, fall inside the VIN range ZAMSS57D001163028 to ZAMRP56D001178468.
Models that may need pedal cover and floor mat changed, fall inside the VIN range ZAMPP56D001078749 to ZAMSS57D001161874.
The fix is promised to take no more than one hour.
