no matter how good job these tata guys do to rejuvinate these run down brands ….those wheatgrass fed blondes will like only like em if they will say on their side panel….so called MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN…it is very sad but that is a fact…cuz people are already checking with dealerships that they want range rover from uk..not the cheap version from INDIA…so change anything else but not the origin….

What the Blind JagMan is saying all the RELIABILITY ISSUE of Jag, will go away as soon as you sit inside a Jag.

Summing up the exercise of buying a Jag, you will be spending BMW level of cash to buy car that is as reliable as a Daewoo/Holden. I can understand why so many people are deserting Jags.

Are you kidding???? So you’ve never driven one, fair enough.
And Kenny, as for LR being the only worthwhile thing out of the two, is this from a standpoint of economic rationalism??
In that case, we should all be driving Barinas (- then the safety rating wouldn’t matter :-)
I’d suggest to anyone considering knocking Jaguars, do a bit more research than:
(1) Word of mouth at pubs/crib-rooms/public toilets
(2) the Internet
(3) loser Lexus owners
(4) loser jap car fans

Actually go to a dealer and …..sit in one.
That’s all you need do in the short term.

btw, don’t waste your typing muscles with ‘facts and figures’, i won’t be reading any links to Redbook (what a joke they are – have any of them ever bought/owned a car?????)The proof of the Jag pudding is very much in the owning/driving, if you chooses to excersize some individuality.

Not being elitist, in fact Tata could work out a whole lot better than Ford just nicking the way-superior rear axle technology for their Tickfords and BA/BF range!

I think LR is only thing worth while out of the two. I think if TATA gets LR & J, they should move most of the production to India, or at least the low end models. The result will be many ppl will be able to afford LRs & Js. Also I think TATA will have struggle to sort out Js reliability issues, continuous loss of market share.

Tata probably wants to buy Jag and Land Rover to get access to the knowledge that Land Rover has in off road and jags… umm.. what is jag good at? Also Tata is probably buying Jag and LR as they already have a established name in many many countries. Its a great buy for a manufacturer trying to spread its wings instead of starting fresh and making TATA a well known brand in western countries. We have had TATA’s here for a while but there arent a lot of them. First time i saw one was a ute on the side of the road overheated with its bonnet up on a stinker of a day, didnt give me a good impression, but there are many commodores stuck on the side of the road!!! Of the two I think Land Rover is the better buy. I see no problem with Tata buying those two as long as they dont drop in quality and i hope they keep the awesome Defender!! Also the LR Defender has been made in many different countries since WWII.

As for Frugal One, he/she is a person who is afraid of change, and a typical xenophobe who is probably a unemployed bogan or works a sh!tty dead end job. ignore him/her.

In case you haven’t noticed, the (sad) future of the automotive industry lies in low manufacturing costs in 3rd world economies.

Yes, we will always covet the “premium” brands who manufacture to a spec rather than a budget, but the majority of car buyers seem to just want as many features as possible for the least amount of money.
