2010 Audi R8 V10 Clubsport spy pics

September 29, 2009 by George Skentzos

While the launch of a V10-powered Audi R8 may have sparked some sibling rivalry with Lamborghini, it seems the brand may now have the LP 550-2 in its sights with a Clubsport variant reportedly in the works.

The Audi R8 Clubsport is rumoured to weigh 50 kilograms less than the standard model, coupled with an uprated V10 engine mated to a manual transmission and will be offered exclusively with rear-wheel-drive.

The exterior enhancements for the R8 Clubsport extend to a few more spoilers and flaps on the front and side and a huge wing at the rear.

If the speculation is correct, the Audi R8 Clubsport could be presented on the Essen Motor Show in late November 2009 and be on sale in the first quarter of 2010.

If this thing is nearly as fast as the LP-550-2 at more than $50,000 less then it will sell well, but if buyers are putting more than $350,000 on it then they may just opt for the best instead. It should incorporate free race drive training, plus a VIP pass at the Nurburgring or at least Mt Panorama, wishful thinking!

That is wild, I would like to know the engine and performance specs.
Makes me laugh even harder at the Holden R8 / Clubsport plastic surgery try hard hyper taxi POS.

‘try hard’ is comparing a $60,000 HSV with a $350,000 Audi.

$60K is still a lot of money for something like that.. comparing to a $350K Audi which you expect to pay for.. not only do you pay for the brand, you pay for the years of research and quality..

anti-Aussie? I as an Australian would have to say that complaining and arguing is all Australians do… especially when it comes to GM-Holden. Let the man be he has freedom of opinion.

From the rear view, it has a similar profile to a 911, but this looks about a million times better.

I really want to see one in real life, it seems so small in pictures!

They actually look quite big and agressive on the road, but I have had the pleasure of a walk-around and look-in, and they are small! Well, they appear that way anyway. They seem impossibly low and seem too short! I don’t think the tiny garage-stature is uncommon though. Seeing (the admittedly large) Jeremy Clarkson stand next to most supercars and you soon get an idea that they aren’t so “big”.

Finally! A REAL Clubsport – not that pretend Holden garbage!

If it’s only a 50kg reduction, that seems hardly worth the effort for something weighing over 1600kg. I wonder where the saving will come from since they are unlikely to ditch the awd system.

Why would anyone compare a rubbish Australian Opel to a European Sports car?

If you are comparing Holdens with Audi swampdawg maybe you should stay in your swamp. You obviously have not owned either vehicle. Every machine has it good and bad points… I myself, love em all !
