Bell & Ross Aero GT concept unveiled

The Bell & Ross Aero GT is the first concept car by a relatively young luxury watch maker from France.

If you like the look of the Aero GT, which was launched at the recent Baselworld watch show, don't get your hopes up of it ever seeing production.

That's because it was created to provide inspiration to the company's watch designers. According to Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross' creative director, designing the Aero GT served as a "starting point" for its BR 03-92 Aero GT and BR 03-94 Aero GT limited edition watches, which are "inspired by the automotive world".

This isn't the first time that Bell & Ross has dabbled in designing a vehicle. Back in 2014, the company created the B-Rocket motorcycle concept.

The watch maker says that the Aero GT is 4696mm long, 2072mm wide, 1090mm tall, and rides on a 2884mm wheelbase. The Aero GT is "imagined" to have, situated behind the passenger cell, a 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 that churns out around 455kW of power.

Featuring a carbonfibre monocoque, and aluminium and carbonfibre panels, the Aero GT has a theoretical weight of 1320 kilograms. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. The concept is said to be capable of a 0-100km/h time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 315km/h.

The Aero GT rides on 20-inch alloy wheels clad in 245/35 rubber up front, and 305/30 tyres at the rear. Stopping power comes courtesy of ceramic brakes with six-piston callipers.
