Hey all!

I'm with Lily and her comments. Mind you I do drive a Toyota 4x2 dual cab...it didn't come with Air-con {I had to pay over a $1000 for that, Fog lights are also extra, no back bumper with the model. I bought a diesel which is more expensive to fill the car with; where I live it costs me about $100 to fill the tank. The only thing it came with is electric windows, no hands phone conection, and a dvd player. I spent another $1000 to de-daggify it...hated the wheels so I had mags put on it, and the pinstriping to help me recongize it in the crowd. It added up to over $35,000 and for what?? Nothing much!
No-one mentioned that with the Great Wall you get 10% off any purchases made for the car e.g floor mats etc. I test drove the V240 and found it just as good as the 4x2 to drive...with more features! We are all not rich and beggers cant be choosers. It has a Holden Rodeo Chassy and powered by a Mitsubishi Motor. I saw on the news how a family walked without a scratch when involved in a head-on in their X240; their next car was another X240! Go figure eh? All I can say to the wowzers is do keep an open mind, didn't Kia have a simular start?

Hey all, lots of discussion on the V240. Well I will make the statement i own one and it would have to be the best twin cab I have ever owned. It was a little under powered that was easily fixed with cold air intake setup as the stock box is very restrictive and a nice sports muffler. There has been a company in WA testing these rigs and are coming up with up to 20 horses extra from these two cheap mods. This has been on a dyno. I find my rig very comfortable. It handles very well, it tows great I have had over one tonne on my trailer and a cab full of people with no problems. Just a great rig over all with no issues after 10,000 km. So give it ago and stop bagging it

2 star rating? Certainly beats the 92 Ford Courier ute I commute in with my hubby on a daily basis that has no air bags, no abs, nothing. Air bags and ABS as standard is definitely a better option for me and probably for a lot of other people where economical car prices is a deal breaker. I simply do not have $40k to spend on a new Hilux as much as I would like one.
And please, can we have some constructive comments from people who have driven these cars? I'm not interested in what people think is "right" or "wrong" and plain bagging the car just because it's Chinese. Pricing is cheap but it's also a strategy to break into the market. Get over it.

TOXIC-HORSE I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU WOULD COMPARE GW WITH NAVARA AND HILUX.
IT'S LIKE COMPARING DOG SH.T WITH MARS BAR, THEY DO LOOK A LIKE, A BIT. TRY THE TASTE TEST YOU'LL SOON NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.
CHEERS

The first thing you notice about Great Walls website is the lack of a 'safety' information page. Twenty years ago it might have been the norm in car manufacturing to ignore safety and concentrate on price and gimmicks (leather in a ute?) but not now.

Well, I may not be ready to but a ute from GWM, but I have started buying stock in the company. You can mock all you want, but in a few years this company will be mainline and doing well. Does everyone forget so quickly how Honda and Yamaha started in motorcycles? China is here to stay and, with the domestic market support GWM will have, they have the backing to grow.

Yes, their cars lack things now. Give them 3 or 4 years and the cars and utes will be better and grabbing market share. They are already in 120 countries.

People should be objective about this and lets not turn this into a political debate, Mitshubishi Express Van is only one star safety rating and many other major brand's utes are 2-3stars. Do people complaint about it? Many people just want to see them fail coz prejudice of course, but they don't understand that China is up and coming, look around you almost everything is made in China. People should learn to live with that, we live in a global village now and trade is two way traffic. Australia's economy very much depends on Chinese demand for resouces and services, vice versa they need to export their products. Besides a ute is a ute how different could it be from a design perspctive, all the aircraft share many componets and design but you don't hear Airbus acuses Boeing for stealing.
