Porsche Macan four-cylinder entry model confirmed for Australia, launch timing unclear
Porsche Australia has announced that it will introduce a four-cylinder petrol version of the Porsche Macan in 2017 or beyond, as demand continues for its smallest SUV range.
The four-cylinder Porsche Macan uses a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine from the Volkswagen Group (not the flat-four fitted to the new 718 Boxster), which produces 185kW of power and 370Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and will dash from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds.
One of the biggest advantages of this four-cylinder engine is fuel consumption, which drops to 7.2L/100km (in comparison to 8.7L/100km for the Macan S petrol and 6.1L/100km for the Macan S diesel).
With a kerb weight of 1770kg, the four-cylinder Macan will be the lightest SUV in the Porsche line-up.
Australian pricing is yet to be announced, but we expect it to sit between $75,000-85,000 when it is launched locally.
Exactly when that will be is unclear at this stage, with Porsche saying only that the car won't be here before the start of 2017, but hasn't provided any further detail on when it will go on sale.
The Model Year 2017 Macan also comes with Porsche's new PCM (Porsche Communications Management) that includes a seven-inch colour touchscreen with satellite navigation and voice control.
