Kyle - Think you'll find the 2.7 litre has recently been replaced by the 3.0 version which is far better. Even Jags have it now with varying outputs from 232bhp to 282bhp I think

I have identified the new territory engine, it is also found in the new landrover Discovery 4…..this is a power house engine for a “FORD 600Nm All wheel drive” the territory is also 488kgs lighter than the landrover discovery4 making it a workhorse there is also a 2.7L diesel to work with as well with lower power figures…

The new LR-TDV6 3.0l Diesel engine
——————————————————————————–
Max Power: 241bhp/180kW@ 4,000rpm
Max Torque: 600Nm@ 2,000rpm

Combined Fuel Consumption: 30.4mpg/9.3l/100km; CO2 244g/km
One of the most technically advanced diesel engines in the world, the new LR-TDV6 Advanced Sequential Turbo Diesel engine features unique parallel sequential turbochargers. Used for the first time in a V-engine, these optimise responsiveness by delivering increased Torque at very low revs.

The LR-TDV6 2.7l Diesel engine
——————————————————————————–
Max Power:188bhp/140kW@4,000rpm
Max Torque: 440Nm@1,900rpm

Combined Fuel Consumption: 27.7mpg/10.2l/100km; CO2 270g/km (automatic) 30.7mpg/9.2l/100km; CO2 244g/km (manual)

firstly, Paul, do you realise a TDCi (Thats Turbo Diesel Common-Rail Injection for u toyota finatics) has real world consumtion equal to that of a prius AND emits very similar levels of co2 AND will do over 1000km on a 55L tank of diesel?

secondly, if the hybrids are so great, why is it only tree huggers who want to look like they care buying them? oh thats right, they cost roughly TWICE the price of a Yaris/Corolla, of which the Prius is sized between.

Paul, you have NFI.

You say "I find it laughable that Ford are bringing out a Diesel Territory and Falcon by 2010 when 2 years prior the states will have a hydrogen cell car and at the same year Australia is supposedly going to have one." Ummmm, lets see, 2010 - 2 = 2008. What year are we in today? 2008. Oops.

The whole point of diesel's on-road performance isn't outright power, it's torque. Check out torque figures for little diesel rockets like Astra and Golf. I can't be bothered doing it for you.

The government should be encourageing diesel and subsidising diesel rather than LPG, LPG does not offer the extra torque or mileage as in a diesel.

Toyota have hybids already in mainstream production. Ford have..... oh thats right, I keep hearing they are developing it, thats about it, pure speculation.

As for the rest, no the Honda hybrid is coming out next year in the states... I doubt a ford hybrid would be because quite frankly I dont think it exists. ANY manufacturer would be advertising it if they had it, they want a green image. But thats it, they have to actually have it first!

paul all i was saying is that why does honda get the wrap. just because they are advertising it 3yrs in advance??
i was pointing out that others like GM, ford, and certainly BMW like you said are well on top of it too

with looks i was pointing out that most alternate fuel car or hybrid looks ugly. its not low to judge on looks it is also what sells them. oh and didnt you recently critiseze the looks of the mondeo (you low person you).

ok so how does toyota sleep at night???
releasing petrols while everyone else is doing diesels

quick paul you better jump off the toyota ship!!!!!

there is no date set for hydrogen so for all you know ford could have it in 2010 aswell.they will still need diesel till everyone becomes acostomed to the new fuel.
the article says diesel "BY 2010" meaning before. i wont be surprised to see it in 2008 especially in the territory

so whats toyota doing again??

And honestly Andrew.M.... tell me, if you owned a business of making cars, would you be sleeping well if you were releasing Diesel engines when your competitors are releasing far superior technology? Id be shyting myself if I had a vested interest in Ford etc...

Not negative, realistic.

I find it laughable that Ford are bringing out a Diesel Territory and Falcon by 2010 when 2 years prior the states will have a hydrogen cell car and at the same year Australia is supposedly going to have one. The whole point of Diesel from a manufacturers point of view is for fuel efficiency and the green vote... when you have hydrogen cell cars coming out at that time which eclipse Diesel on both accounts it seems like a bad business decisions to bother with Diesel doesnt it... especially when you have yoru claims that GM and Ford have better technology which I find extremely hard to believe when they cant even perfect current technology lol!

As for power, the article does state it has the same power as most petrol engines... so there is an indication! And you think Diesel engines have the same power? In most if not all cases they lack power... although yes they do have shyteloads of torque.

Lastly looks and all that... in another article recently posted here you have BMW who also have working hydrogen cell vehicles RIGHT NOW, not 2008 or 2010. And they look exactly the same as the regular BMWs... and mind you its a prity low knock to have a go at appearance, its just a shell, they are trying to make it look futuristic... I thought youd have the common sense to look beyond that Andrew.M, like whats under the bonnet!

paul why are you soo negative towards ford and holden?
what the F is toyota doing? at least ford has a diesel passenger car here. does toyota? no
we are yet to see good power figures out of these "green cars" yet so dont expect every one to jump at them. also with 330k's per tank and ugly looks, well.......

so when ford introduces its second range of diesel passenger vehicles in like 18 mths shall we all laugh at toyotas getting around on unleaded?

also how do you know honda will be the first to release hydrogen. plenty others are working on it and from the article you posted GM are more advanced in it but no one ever hears about that do they??
thats because honda are pumping money into advertising it 5 years before it happens so when it comes people think honda invented it and every one else copied.
so how far off is fords and GM's etc?
just because they dont say doesnt mean they dont have it just as advanced

Lol who cares about Diesels... Honda will have the hydrogen cell out in the states by 2008 (2010 in Australia I THINK)

http://carsguide.news.com.au/story/0,20384,20787843-21822,00.html

So it will be good for a laugh to see the launch of Diesel by Ford while people are driving around in hydrogen cell cars that cost them nothing in fuel and only emmit water!

dead right adam.
we are talking about this market right here.
well ford already has the diesel focus too.
its not about what car makers have produced cause internationally they all have pretty much the same in their stables. its about australia (our market)

Does it matter? the point is Ford AUS is beating many to market with diesels, as thats where we live.

The comment that Ford AUS is behind is not correct at all.

^
Honda have been selling their own Diesels in Europe for about 4 years now, having used GM and Rover diesels in previous years. The 2.2 CDTi engine first seen in the Accord (Euro) is considered to be one of the best available. Honda haven't got to the diesel stage yet in Australia, but they have everywhere else.

Hendrik,

Ford Aus are slow in catching global trends? Is that why it'll be the first manufacturer to have an Australian small car to suit the changing trends? And as said before, Terri was the first Australian car with ESP and they've had a Focus for quite a while...

Paul, great to hear that Honda will have Hydrogen cars in 2010 (Though you must show me how they will be able to get it so quickly). So if Honda are that far ahead - Where are the Diesel Accords, Civics and CRVs in 2007? Oh they haven't gotten to that stage yet? Then I assume Ford are ahead, not behind, right?

Paul,
why do you have to be so negative where ever you go?(apart from toyota)?
ford AUS are also developing hydrogen and they are one of only a few that are. honda just advertises it more.
well ford are ahead of toyota in diesels arent they?

why should ford go with hybrids? i mean toyota proved to every one that they are no more efficient nor greener
