2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR pricing and specifications: $289,590 start for fastest F-Type ever

The hot new 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR models are now available to order in Australia, two weeks before the coupe and convertible pair make their global debut at the Geneva motor show.

As the first-ever production Jaguar models to be given a going-over by the company’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) arm, the F-Type SVR twins also come with the distinction of being the fastest of the breed.

Australian deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2016, with the coupe priced from $289,590 plus on-road costs and the convertible from $308,470 plus on-roads.

As revealed in January, the F-Type SVR models are powered by Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8, producing 423kW at 6500rpm and 700Nm between 3500 and 5000rpm. That’s matched to recalibrated all-wheel drive and eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission systems.

Although they sit equal for torque, the SVR models are 19kW more powerful than the standard F-Type R AWD model - and 25kg lighter. Go for the optional Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake system and carbon fibre roof and weight is sharpened by an additional 25kg.

Jaguar claims a 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds for the SVR coupe, shaving a neat 0.5 seconds off the R’s time. Top speed is listed at 322km/h.

Features unique to the SVR models include an enhanced aero package with a new front bumper and splitter, along with a flat underfloor, a carbon-fibre active rear wing and larger rear diffuser.

Under the skin, there’s new dampers, anti-roll bars and stiffer rear knuckles, sitting above lightweight 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in wider 265/35/ZR20 front and 305/30/ZR20 rear tyres.

The braking package includes 380mm front and 376mm rear discs, although larger 398/380mm Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes can also be optioned. Six- front and four-piston rear calipers are featured with the upgrade.

A titanium and Inconel (a nickel alloy containing containing chromium and iron) exhaust system is also featured, replacing the regular F-Type’s stainless steel package and alone making up 16kg of the base 25kg weight reduction in the SVR models.

Upgrades inside include unique SVR seats with a ‘Lozenge Quilt’ trim pattern, along with a suede-covered instrument binnacle and centre console, an SVR steering wheel and anodised aluminium paddles.
