2010 BMW X5 spy pics

BMW will be giving its X5 a light facelift for next year which includes new front and rear bumpers and, for the first time, the introduction of a new one-piece tailgate.

BMW also tends to introduce a new engine with each new model or facelift, though for the X5, all the possible choices form a very short list.

One of these possibilities is a hybrid powertrain since BMW has been exhibiting concept ActiveHybrids. An X6 hybrid has even been spied doing tests. It could also just be the 4.4-litre twinturbo V8 in the upcoming X5 M but M cars are treated as separate models in Munich.

The new X5 is expected to make an official entrance before the end of the year.

I think the X5 is perfect as it is. I hope they don’t ruin it.

I’m sure the petrol 6 pot will be replaced by the new 3L 6 pot turbo charged unit recently launched in the 5GT. Also the xdrive48i should be replaced by xdrive50i already found in X6. Beyond that, i suspect not many engine changes will take place, BMW’s 6 pot diesel are still the best in the business and doubt they’ll change that. Wonder if they’ll put in the active diff system from X6 into X5, if so there will be no driving enjoyment advantage for the X6 over X5.

I think the X5 is a really dull design, but we’re all entitled to our opinions right.

Of course we are and i actually agree with you.

Like you said, we’re all entitled to our opinions, and i have to disagree as i think X5 is the better looking of SUVs. Never liked SUVs, but if i have to have one, this will be the one.

Oh no! The two piece tailgate is one of the highlight features over its’ competitors….

    • Alex

I think it’s stupid too. I love two piece tailgates and if I was buying a car in this segment, it is a reason that I would go for an X5 over it’s competitors.

    This is so aftermarket ugly.

The regular X5 beats this by a million… thingys. The regular X5 is elegant

Any one considering purchasing a diesel X5 with the intention of traveling or towing should re consider! the X5 only has a small fuel inlet, most country service stations only have the larger hi flow hoses, making it very difficult to fill the car, i had to purchase a 20 ltr jerry can to transfer the fuel from the pump to the vehicle.
If you do purchase one of these vehicles for towing, the dealer supplied tow bar is supplied with a European 13 pin socket, whilst they can supply 2 types of adapters at around $300.00 each, you will need to pay a visit to the auto electrician if you want to use the type of plug supplied on most caravans.
