Volvo V90 wagon leaked ahead of debut next week

Two European websites have published leaked studio photographs of the Volvo V90 wagon ahead of the car's official debut next week on February 18.

The pictures seen here are from Autofans.be, while the set published on AutoWeek.nl also include photos of the car's interior, which differs little from the S90 sedan except with greater rear-seat headroom and vastly improved luggage space out the back.

As with earlier Volvo wagons and crossovers, the V90 has tail-lights that flow down from the bottom of the rear spoiler. On the V90 the units also stretch into the tailgate, giving it an L-shaped appearance.

Based on S90 sedan, which made its debut in December 2015, the new wagon is the third vehicle to be based on the company's Scalable Product Architecture.

Thanks to its close relationship to the S90 sedan and the XC90 SUV, the V90 will be offered with most, if not, all of their four-cylinder drivetrain options. Overseas, the XC90 is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel in 140kW/400Nm D4 trim and 168kW/470Nm D5 format.

There's also 2.0-litre petrol, which is offered as the turbocharged 180kW/350Nm T5, turbocharged and supercharged 235kW/400Nm T6, and twincharged plug-in hybrid 300kW/640Nm T8.

Only the D5, T6 and T8 drivetrains are being offered at the moment in Australia in the XC90.

The new S90 is scheduled to enter Australian showrooms in August 2016, whilst the V90 is expected to launch during the first quarter of 2017.
