MotorWorld Sydney:: Australia’s new car festival launches

MotorWorld Sydney, a new Australian festival designed to connect car buyers, enthusiasts and industry members with everything car-related has been officially launched today, before opening its doors to the public later this year.

The event promises to be "Australia's biggest drive experience" and the new concept is set to come to life at Sydney Motorsport Park from November 30 to December 4, 2016.

Motor shows have come and gone from the Australian stage over the years, with dwindling crowd numbers and risings costs largely to blame. MotorWorld Sydney organisers, confident in their format, say this is no ordinary motor show.

The NSW Government has thrown its support firmly behind the event and Stuart Ayres, NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism & Major Events and Minister for Sport, was on hand to officially launch the festival.

The Minister said MotorWorld Sydney will be widely promoted through Destination NSW.

MotorWorld Sydney promises to be a family-friendly event with a focus on entertainment and direct engagement, offering a wide range of both cars and motorbikes.

Organisers are aiming to have at least 25 manufacturers represented at the event and around 20,000 test drive opportunities are expected to be made available to the festival's visitors.

Kris Willand, Managing Director of MotorWorld Sydney, said that the festival will be a welcome event for buyers "that want to be informed and entertained at the same time".

"Our main target will be families, and our focus will be on giving them a chance to test drive vehicles on street, track or off-road circuits," Willand said.

"A quality entertainment and 'edutainment' program will ensure all members of the family will have a great day out.”

Sydney Motorsport Park will be divided into precincts, each with a different focus including exhibits, retail, family zone, entertainment, test drives, exotics, classics and customs, aftermarket, technology, green technology and lifestyle.

There will also be a 'Ladies Day' hosted by Mamamia, with a range of driving experiences, educational opportunities and lifestyle-focussed events.

MotorWorld Sydney has partnered with Dream Ride, Special Olympics Australia and will be raising money for the organisation as well as offering opportunities for children with intellectual disability to be involved with festival activities.

MotorWorld Sydney aims to promote the Australian automotive industry to visitors from around Australia and the Asia Pacific region and we'll bring you more details on what to expect as they are released.
