2013 Porsche Spyder first pics

September 14, 2009 by Matt Brogan

CarAdvice has today received two renderings of what we believe to be a very near representation of the Volkswagen BlueSport Concept based 2013 Porsche Spyder.

Rumoured to share many of its components with the Audi R2, the much loved Spyder will return to roads boasting a “reputation for unrivalled driving dynamics, but in a much lighter, fuel efficient and affordable package than any model in recent memory.”

With a folding canvas roof like that of the current Boxster, the Spyder will also be significantly smaller than the current entry-level Porsche.

Power is expected to come from a tuned version of VW’s four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0 TFSI engine (think Golf GTI) but with a slightly more exciting 210kW.

hahahaha the car that most other cars are compared to is ugly, is it even possible to make a rear engined car look good?

Being a Porsche fan, I’d love a MX5 sized Porsche roadster. Especially if it’s priced closer to the MX5 than the Boxster.
I’m not rapt in these pictures, particularly the tail lights, but they are just renderings, not official pictures.

If Porsche want to recycle its designs then it’s got a great one ready to use – the 550 Spyder. CA did a review Sydney based Chamonix’s 550 Spyder. Porsche would be better off taking a few more styling cues from that I than pretending the Cayenne and Panamera are 911’s.

I’m a huge fan of Porsche, but I am hoping the spider looks better than those renderings!

The rear lights look like they’re off a MiTO

I think it’s cute, but is that a good thing? Probably not, because if it came out looking like that it would be for girls only. It reminds me an awful lot of the Daihatsu Copen. Is there any real reason to think it will look like this though? After all, they are just renderings.

This is tottally fake to generate site traffic. Porsche has never designed crap like this with round tail lights. And when have they released a design 4 years before it’s release? Never. They would show it in Frankfort before anything.
