VolksWagen Passat Recall

UPDATE: VolksWagen Australia has confirmed that no Passats sold in Australia are affected.

VolksWagen has recalled 34,000 Passats worldwide for a clutch problem. The recall affects only the Passats built during April-May 2005 loaded with 2.0 L TDI engines and six-speed manual transmissions.

This recall is linked with the previous recalls for the Golf and Jetta given they both share the same engine and gearbox. No word from VolksWagen Australia as to whether or not the Passats sold in AUS are affected but the chances are high given that the Passats sold here don’t differ from the ones sold overseas.
