2016 Renault Megane wagon spy photos

The fourth-generation Renault Megane wagon has been nabbed by our spy photographers while undergoing winter testing in Europe.

Interestingly for a body style based on an already unveiled vehicle, the Megane wagon features head-to-toe camouflage, as well as a layer of false body panels underneath.

From what we can see here, the Megane wagon will feature a new rear door with a more vertical trailing edge, as well as, possibly, a straighter window line.

Other changes include a longer, flatter roofline, and, of course, an extended cargo quarter. Like the hatch, the wagon looks as though it will also feature a set of slimline tail-lights that stretches into the tailgate.

Rumours indicate that the new Megane wagon could debut later this year, probably at the Paris motor show that takes place in September.

In January, CarAdvice learnt that the fourth-generation Megane hatch will arrive in Australia around September 2016. Renault will initially offer the new generation model with one of three turbocharged engines under the bonnet.

Petrol buyers can choose between a 97kW/205Nm 1.2-litre unit or a more powerful 151kW/280Nm 1.6-litre motor. Those who prefer compressed ignition engines the choice will be limited to a 81kW/250Nm 1.5-litre engine.

All engine choices will be available with an automated seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
