2016 Toyota Corolla sedan facelift revealed: Trademark renderings surface online

Images of the 2016 Toyota Corolla sedan have surfaced on the European Union trademark and patent office website this week, offering a first clear look at the small car’s styling updates.

These images of the international and US-market versions (the latter was spied testing just days ago), of the refreshed 2016 Corolla sedan reveal a new face and a subtle revision at the rear end.

For the international version - currently the variant offered in Australia - styling updates include a slender new pointed look to the inside edge of each headlight, matched to a new grille garnish that better connects the sedan with its recently facelifted hatch sibling.

The US model also gets new headlights, joined through the centre by the same chrome grille garnish. A wide-open lower grille dominates the bumper, wrapped by a broad chrome band.

Local timing for this update is still to be confirmed, and mechanical details are likewise yet to surface.

In its current form, the Corolla sedan is driven by a 103kW/173Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, with no indication of any changes seen for this coming update.

CarAdvice has contacted Toyota Australia for details on a 2016/2017 update.
