Kia Telluride concept’s interior revealed ahead of Detroit debut

The Korean car maker has confirmed that its new large SUV concept, which will be unveiled at the 2016 Detroit auto show, will be known as the Kia Telluride.

In addition to this, the brand has also given us a first look at the concept's interior, which will be the first from Kia to feature 3D printed components. According to Kia, this adds "a distinct, modern design element to the dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel".

The Telluride will also feature, as yet unspecified, "unique in-cabin health-and-wellness technology".

The new SUV concept, which is expected to be a size larger than the latest-generation Sorento, was designed at the company's studio in California and is said to take "Kia’s design language in a bold new direction".

If the Telluride does make the transition into production, it will likely take the place of the Borrego (below), also known as the Mohave outside of the USA.

The Borrego/Mohave measures a smidge over 4.9 metres long, features body-on-frame construction, was available with three rows of seating, and could be specified with either rear- or four-wheel drive.

In the US, the Borrego was offered with a 206kW/362Nm 3.8-litre V6 or a 251kW/434Nm 4.6-litre V8.

In the USA, the Borrego failed to meet sales targets and lasted for just one model year (2009). The Mohave continues to be sold in South Korea, where it is exclusively fitted with a 191kW/549Nm 3.0-litre V6 and four-wheel drive.
