2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG unveiled ahead of Frankfurt

Update: The car has been officially unveiled: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

First details and pictures of Mercedes-Benz's SLS AMG have begun to appear on the net today, a week ahead of the car's official launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The 300SL-inspired "Gullwing" model features a  front/mid-mounted version of the brand's 6.3-litre V8 (as fitted to the majority of AMG's offerings) developing 420kW and 650Nm.

Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission the SLS AMG will drive the rear wheels and should see 0-100 km/h times near enough to 3.7 seconds.

The 1587kg vehicle has a top speed of 317km/h and will utilise (optional) carbon ceramic discs for quicker stopping power.

Color choices will include Alubeam Silver, Syvanite Grey, Alanite Grey and Red, complimenting the leather and alcantara interior and ten-spoke forged wheels.

Production will begin in late 2010 with sales starting the following year, and early pricing guide suggests €177,310 (AUD$298,000) in Germany though truth be told it's really more of a case of wait and see.
