The suspension has been given the sports treatment, delivering a lower, firmer ride. The limited edition model will be available in automatic or manual transmission, with an RRP of $64,390 for the manual model.

Lexus Australia divisional manager John Roca has expressed his enthusiasm in the future of Lexus’ IS range.

“We are very excited about some of the upcoming developments for the IS Line, including the V8-powered IS-F and potentially, an IS coupe in the future,”

Oh X badging how great. How about Lexus get their act together… the U.S get an AWD IS250 and better yet the IS350… which has a number of safety features the lower models dont have and best of all…a 3.5L V6 producing 230kw getting it to 100 in just over 5 seconds rather then 8seconds for the IS250 which is boring for a car that has has in its line up variants with the word ’sport’. Sorry but $60k or so and ’sport’ dont exactly go together well when the car is slower then the Aurion which is half its price.

  2. Paul says:

And I love that quote… talking about the V8s, ummm how about you bring the V6 here first mate! I think the V6 would have a broader following in this climate of fuel efficiency then the V8 which will cost a fortune to buy and then maintain.

  3. alborz says:

    Actually Paul
although V6 sales have dropped in recent years, V8 sales have gone up! V8 buyers could not care less about Fuel costs or the environment.

Put the IS250 on the road next to a sports car and you will be amazed just how much power it really has

  4. Paul says:

There is a general trend towards smaller engined cars. And eitherway the IS250 is ordinary, I dont see how lining up against another sports car will have any effect… fact is it does the 100 in 8seconds while its direct competitor the 330i does it in 6s, Im sure its an alright car to drive but when you have something like the IS350 going around somehow I think Id prefer that… because as I said it not only is alot faster in a straight line but it has features like VDIM and radar cruise control which braces you if an impact is unavoidable.

  5. CHAPPY says:

Paul get your facts straight before you quote on the web
the 330 is not a is250 competetior the 320 4 cylinder and 325 is at lot more money
I got to $95000 for the 325 with options before even came close to IS250 SPORTS with mark levinson and sat, nav, which i bought.
There is no 330 anymore 335 starts at $110000 with no options.
I love if they bought the IS350 out here but will wait and see.

  6. Paul says:

    Come on mate:

    1. Im quoting on the net exactly, I havent stated anywhere Im particularly knowledgable in this area and Im certainly not going to research all this and waste my time… I talk about what I know and try to make something constructive. Its not going to be 100% accurate all the time.

    2. My bad in regards to 330i confused with all that…. it was a competitor of the IS350 though.

    3. In other discussions I have been making the points you are, Lexus are good value for money… the Beemers dont have rear side air bags or knee airbags (let alone dual knee airbags) etc yet cost more.

But Im still disappointed that something as decent as the IS range dont get the IS350 out in Australia which is a better vehicle then the IS250 as I mentioned before, in terms of performance and features offered.

  7. Dingo says:

The IS range is fantastic as far as i’m concerned and has earn’t itself a very honourable reputation.

The introduction of the IS-F with it’s 300kw/475nm 5.0 V8 mated to a 8 speed is sure to add dynamics to the Lexus range while i do agree with Paul that it would be good if the IS350 was sold alongside the IS250 here in great OZ considering Lexus Australia recently confirmed that they will be importing the IS-F.

My comment however takes no due credit away from the IS250 as it has proven to be a popular car.

  8. Paul says:

    ^

Yeah maybe I was abit harsh in regards to the IS250, it does offer great features like dual knee airbags in the Luxury model and its a great looking car. IS250 has this and performance. There was speculation a while ago that they would bring the IS350 out to Australia as well, but it looks like its not going to happen. And as you mention, they are bringing out the IS-F I would have thought first get the IS250 out here as I can only assume it would get more sales (would be cheaper with slightly less straightline performance… like 1sec slower)!

  9. Squishy says:

I agree with the general sentiment here – the IS250 is a fantastic car, and I only wish I had the budget to push to have gotten one!

I also agree entirely with the sentiment that it would be awesome if Australia was able to get the IS350 as well… the IS-F isn’t likely to come out for years yet, so the IS350 would be a pretty decent stopgap to compete against the 330i.

What happened to the IS250 convertible though?

  10. Dingo says:

Squishy – Lexus Australia only recently confirmed (as this site published)that the IS-F will make it to our shore mid next year and will debut at the Australian Motor Show in October of this year.

  11. Greg says:

My new IS250X turns up on friday 10/8 and i can hardly wait. I have owned plenty of SS Commodores over the years and sure the VE would kick the 250’s backside in the grunt department but the Lexus proved to me to be the better pick overall with quality and features.

  12. paulk says:

I also think as an overal package you cannot go past the is250.
In times of uncertain fuel costs, and speed cameras at every second corner, what use is all that excess power?? The normal driving experience of the is250 is rewarding in its self. so i will keep saving a little longer. I love the fact that there are still only a minimal amount of these vheicles on the road, making you feel like that you bought somthing a little differant than all of those other sheep out there.

  13. john says:

lexus, PLEASE !!!!!!!!!! Bring the is350 to austalia.

  14. ben says:

Firstly, its Australia and secondly yes, i believe lexus should bring the is350 to Australia to fill the gap between the is250 and isf.
