2016 Chery New Cars

Chery’s Australian importer Ateco Automotive says there’s nothing new on the horizon for the Chinese brand in 2016.

As it was for much of 2015, the brand remains “paused” in Australia for the foreseeable future until new product emerges that is available in right-hand drive and suitable for our market.

Ateco is also hoping for the currency situation to improve to help the brand compete with fellow rivals from Asia.

Despite these challenges, the local importer remains optimistic, insisting that Chery’s position in Australia could turn around very quickly.

Chery only sold about 200 cars in Australia in 2015, split roughly evenly between the J3 small hatch and J11 baby SUV.
