Surprisingly the Prius is a well thoughtout car, on the ugly side yes, but the technology put into it means you pay much more for a fuel efficient car than you would from these new clean diesels.

You do know the Oil companies of the world are lying to us about the oil reserves ( so they can charge more for their product), yes it will eventually run out, but there is still plenty left, infact Australia has the equivalent of 24 Billion Barrels of Shale oil alone, god knows how much Canada has through sand extraction. But you are correct, it will run out and by the time it does Car companies will have developed a viable longterm solution.

Diesel is not a long term solution.
It is closely related to petroleum that they become scarce and eventually “runs out”.

Hybrid is also just a short to medium term solution.

Fuel, as in petroleum/Diesel/LPG are all short term solution.

In the long term, for the good of the industry and environment… and for feasibility, sustainability…. “combustion” based energy source are no good.

Diesel will win out globally in the end, as it has done so in Europe, the yanks are always slow in picking up on the best products.

I hope Toyota choke on their Hybrid soup. All the smart manufacturers are backing diesel and plug-ins while toyota is still trumpeting on about their saviour the prius. I cant belive 2 million show offs actually bought this car. Poor things could have saved up a bit more and bought a base A3 diesel.

2 Million sales! Nice accolade if you like the Prius. No Mention of Citroen selling 2 Million C3′s since 2004 and more than half of those were Diesel?

And before anyone takes a cheap shot at me I used Citroen as an example because they aren’t the most popular manufacturer in the world. Toyota seriously needs to do Global Diesel, they’d make more money if they did.
