Lexus Australia appoints Peter McGregor to CEO role: Hanley rejoins Toyota in sales role

Lexus Australia welcomes a new Chief Executive Officer this week, with Peter McGregor stepping into the role as successor to outgoing CEO Sean Hanley.

McGregor comes to the job from Toyota where he worked in marketing, franchise development, regional operations and product planning.

A 40-year veteran of the motoring industry, McGregor will step into the CEO role with a strong bottom line to his predecessor’s credit. Lexus sales in 2015 are so far up 27.8 percent, with year-to-date sales at 8158 compared to 6382 for the same period in 2014.

Hanley, who has presided over solid sales growth at Lexus since early 2013, returns to Toyota in the Divisional Manager Sales role, where he will play a key role in the company’s transition from manufacturer to a full-import line.

He replaces Scott Thompson, who has taken a two-year role with Toyota Motor Sales in the US.

"The appointments are highly strategic and indicative of Toyota's commitment to the Australian market in the long term," Toyota Australia President Dave Buttner said today.

"They will strengthen our foundation for the future and support our vision of creating an even stronger business to the benefit of our customers."

Toyota announced in early 2014 that it would shut down its Australian manufacturing operations in 2017, when, like fellow local manufacturers Ford (2016) and Holden (2017), it will become a full-import brand.
