You don't have to like these, QwkEddie. What matters is that VW gives you the choice. Here's range of cars that offer super economy at one level or performance at the other end, and it's all done with front-line engine technology. You can count the number of manufacturers who do this on the fingers of one hand.

WRONG!

Pity that they didnt write down the correct figure of 3.3l/100km

No auto

No torque, its overgeared

Pay LESS and get the std. TDi without any compromise and very very little extra fuel used, auto avail too.

No auto......., its a deal breaker, fail.

$/km which is THE true measure, a cheaper petrol powered converted onto GovCo rebated LPG will still be less to fuel and run.

New factory fitted dual fuel Fiat Evo G-Punto has a range of 1500km!

Only telling it how it is Boney, the comapny bought 500 Peugeots of varying sizes and within weeks 78 were out of action. No use to a high turnover rental car company so they dumped them. The only other brand they dumped because it was worse was( funny enough Citroen).

Hey Eddie

It is not only about the environment, when the price of fuel starts to rise again when the economy turns, a car that halves the fuel bill will look very attractive. HAve a read of the CSIRO report "Fuel for Thought", or have a look at what the head of Holden had to say about Australia accessing petrolium/oil in 5-10 years. The only way for petrol prices is up - and the figures if you believe them (and I assume the CSIRO has good grounding for their assumptions) are pretty scary.

I saw the Pug diesel hybrid on youtube - it had some great stats - but why go hybrid when you can achieve results like this from VW. I think from memory the Pug diesel hybrid did 3.15L/100klms?

Carfanatic - reliability and build quality of the new Gen VI is nothing to rave about. Take a look at the "first steer" thread on this website. I've got three mates with pugs, one with a 207 GTI, and 2 with 308s they have had no issues. Me and my other mate with Golf VI have both had issues - him much worse then me - to the point he traded out of it.

Maybe if VW design the engine and the good internal bits, and Toyota Japan oversee this and then bolt it all together - then we would have a great car that not only saves your hip pocket, but also wont have annoying dash rattles, pecular engine "charactoristics" (read annoying noises), nor fall apart ;-)

Eddie don't be such a retard, they can reach speeds in the vicinity of 190 Km/h, which is more than enough, as for Peugeot, yes they are too leading, but I wouldn't buy one until they have sorted their reliability issues. Well done VW and don't listen to Eddie the expert, he was dropped on his head at birth.

I wonder if any of these Bluemotion cars can top 100km/h?
Yep save fuel and the environment these type of cars may emit less CO2 gases but I'll wager they produce a prodigious amount of BOREDOM!
"Oh! my car gets 3.1 L/per 100kms,but yours only gets 3.05 L/per 100kms,is that city cycle or combined ?"etc..,etc.Your comments read like a bunch of school girls comparing makeup kits!
I'm sure these type of cars will make drivers feel smug about how they are helping the planet, little do these people realise that they are turning into brainwashed eunuchs.
And by the way...VW is NOT the only company working on diesel-hybrids,Peugeot is into that technology in a big way.Whatever you see or hear about these technologies, every car manufacturer is aware of them,so don't allude to VW having a monopoly on these"new" technologies.
