V8 Supercars confirmed for Forza 3
September 3, 2009 by George Skentzos
The Australian V8 Supercar series has added another event to its calendar, due to make an appearance in living rooms across the nation on October 22 as part of the highly anticipated launch of Forza 3.
Arguably the world’s best console racing simulator, Forza 3 will allow fans to take the wheel of their favourite V8 Supercar team’s FG Falcon or VE Commodore on world famous tracks, including Suzuka, Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Sebring International Raceway.
All cars will feature their team’s specific livery and immaculately rendered interiors created in agonising detail, making this game the next best thing to actually getting behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar.
V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane commented, “V8 Supercars is recognised globally as the best touring car Championship on the planet and being included in the internationally acclaimed Forza 3 is testament to that.”
For those unfamiliar with previous iterations of Forza, the game boasts perhaps the most accurate driving physics of any game to date making it a worthwhile purchase even if only for the Australian connection.
“I’m extremely impressed with the polish of Forza Motorsport 3 and excited about the exposure it will bring to our great sport internationally. Aussie Holden and Ford fans can now battle head-to-head everyday of the week, and get up-close and personal with the power and precision of V8 Supercars.” said V8 Supercars driver Mark Skaife.
Their road-going siblings from both past and present are also expected to make the cut.

Forza is rubbish compared to GT5 (Gran Turismo 5), Polyphony actually works with manufacturers, Forza is the copy cat, the cheap rip off that was made for XBOX because GT5 is only on PS3. If the V8’s went on GT5 to go along with WRC, NASCAR, JTCC and with the 1000 cars that would be lounge chair heaven, but XBOX sponsors the v8’s soo V8SCA is stuck with them.
Just once I’d love to read a cool article like this without having to read some poorly thought-through, vitiolic rant from some clown who can’t get past the 3rd grade level of “Yeah, well, that’s rubbish ’cause mine’s better, so ner!” Sir, is that really the best you could come up with? You prefer a particular brand, therefore a product you’ve never seen is obviously, and I quote, “rubbish”? That’s it? That’s your whole argument? Say, I was thinking about going to see Avatar III when it comes out in 2019, perhaps you could let me know if it’s going to suck or not?
Kind regards,
Your friendly, neigborhood 360 and ps3 owner who, somehow, sees the merits of both :)
Well the fact that half of all 360’s have red ringed further proves, they are rubbish. Just be glad you have a PS3 when the 360 suicides on you.
And come on, even GT4 was much more realistic, sure there was no tyre marks or damage but for a true driving simulator even the PS2’s GT4 is a better game. Forza 2 has a much more superior online aspect and is similar to need for speed pro street in its physics and assistance to do drifts. Agreed it is a more accessible game for the non hard-core but to say its the most accurate driving physics of any game is a bit exaggerated and sounds as though it was written by an employee of Microsoft.
i own both and…
personally i find forza is more genuine in terms of physics and simulation (comparing it to pro street is ridiculous) while the GT series is a bit more arcadish and for a younger generation though still a decent game
you say the realism and physics are better but how can you say that when you havent actually driven a race car or any car for that fact you guys are so slow and stupid you just play games to make up for you lack of skill in your actual life. GROW UP
Another fanboy of the PS3. How can you say it’s better if you haven’t even played it yet? Both games will, I imagine, be fantastic. Grow up and accept the fact that people will play what they choose to play on whatever platform they choose.
the best console simulator racing game in the world? that’s a big call….gran turismo for me
One of the best racing simiulators is the one that Glen Seton [Peter Jackson] Racing had which they then sold to DJR who i think sold it to SBR ad I think now belongs to FPR.
You sat in it and went for a couple of laps around Bathurst – it moved up down and pivoted it even shook so you felt it accelerate every turn bump and braking application.
Wow go Forza 3!
Well at-least Xbox was able to afford the gaming rights to roll cars in game. So with physics like that a crash will be more simulated, Gee I thought GT5 would really do it but no it FAILS again LOL
Both look excellent, and I’d love to have both. But I’ll need a PS3 first right?
I’m no fanboy, I have nboth 360 and PS3 and Forza is so ahead of GT its redicilous. I will sure get both, but I am hyped for Forza 3 through the roof, looks fantastic!
No Australian tracks though, hopefully Bathurst will be in DLC.
yeah hangin out for forza3! forza2 was awesome fun :D
Forza is great fun, but when it comes to driving simulators I still prefer GT5.
Register a vote for Forza with me. Had a glitch in my copy of Forza 2 = Unlimited credits :D Cue building 850kg Exiges, 1400nm Mustangs, etc…
Personally, I cant wait for Forza 3, it looks great. The interiors look fantasic as do the graphics. Forza 2 was thoroughly entertaining and I can only imagine that FM3 will supercede it’s predecessor. And a little side note, rather than comparing it with other games, why not enjoy the game for what it is? :)
HERE, HERE!!!
I think it’s awesome they have included the V8 super”cars” for forza. I put “cars” in quotes as they used the general term V8 supercars – meaning the competition – to say they are including the cars themselves.
I was fooled when I saw the title into thinking that they were including the australian V8 racing championship, only to find out that they have included the cars so you can race them on international soil – WHERE’S THE AUSTRALIAN TRACKS!!!
You may attract some attention by saying this, but I dare say many people will be disappointed to find out they can only race their favourite V8 supercar overseas…
As for the fanboy arguments going…. Lets just say I love GT, always have. And I’m keenly looking forward to the release of GT5. But both games appeal to a slightly different market. Lets just see how GT5 and FM3 compare when they have actually been released and we have had the opportunity to place both!
i think they should make a full game dedicated to the aussie v8 supercars and have everything from all the old legendary v8s thru to the current cars and all the past and present tracks ESPECIALLY bathurst because without a shodow of any doubts BATHUST is the number 1 track in the whole v8 supercar business
There is a V8 Supercars game, where have you been hiding?
Yeah – but it would be good if you had the option of racing one of the current V8 supercars or [say for example]: Peter Brocks HDT Marlboro VK Commodore; Dick Johnsons Greens-Tuf Falcon or even Allan Moffatt’s Coca-Cola Mustang Kevin Bartletts Camaro or even Jim Richards JPS BMW 635CSi Coupe?
The Australian games market is but a drop in the ocean, they wouldn’t do that. But I can see where you are coming from.
That may be However they don’t play rounds of the FA Cup or Premier league in Australia – but we still get Computer games where people can pretend they are playing for Manchester United or even in the world cup.
We only have one internation al major Tennis and Golf event in Oz yet we can become part of the World Tour on our PC or Playstation.. same applies to WRC or F[arcical]-1
My Point is most Football Soccer fans tend to follow like watching Soccer from all over the world..just like most Motorsport like to watch all Forms of Motorsport from all over the world – particularly at the elite inter/national level
So Just because the V8s are unique to Australia doesn’t mean that a V8 Supercar game wouldn’t appeal to Motorsport Fans from overseas as well
