Proton ran a “name our new MPV” contest for the Malaysian public a couple of months before the Exora was launched in Malaysia so, yes, Proton is incapable of naming their own cars.

As to why “Exora” was chosen, the judges fancied the name “Ixora” but since one of the contest regulations stated that names of flowers or animals are not permitted, the name was tweaked to “Exora”.

Why “Exora”? Are they incapable of coming up with a name by themselves? It’s just that it’s awfully close to “Evora” and Proton own Lotus don’t they?
