Toyota, Mini to team up on sub-light cars – report

September 2, 2009 by Matt Brogan

A report published by Edmunds this morning has revealed that Mini is reportedly holding discussion with Toyota about a possible micro car tie-up along the lines of Toyota’s iQ.

Although the deal has not been set in concrete the report indicates that Toyota would benefit from the deal in receiving a counter deal in the form of the upcoming Mini Coupe and Roadster.

The sub-light tie-up could even spread to BMW with the brand wishing to revive the Isetta nameplate. Toyota’s iQ architecture would serve well as a basis for this model.
