Hyundai i20 production moves to Europe
September 1, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Hyundai will shift more than one-third of its i20 production from India to Europe by the middle of next year in order to gain from EU tax benefits.
Although Hyundai has not yet made a final decision on where the i20’s production will be moved to, it is considered most likely that the firm’s Turkish plant will win the deal.
Hyundai currently has the capacity to make around 200,000 units per year in India.
The news comes just weeks after news of the i10 and i20 launch in Australia being delayed. Expect a release of both the i10 and i20 early next year.

I wonder if we are going to get the Indian or European built i20 when this happens.
Speaking of the i20 hopefully Hyundai can hurry up and bring the i10 and i20 to Australia.
Last I heard there were currency and cost issues because these things are built in India.
Has anyone heard anything new regarding availability in Australia?
Cheers
Wow what a dramatic change CarAdvice has had. Not sure if I really like it as it now takes more navigating to find new articles- I can’t just start from the top and work my way down now :(
I’m liking the new comments section and the layout is much better.
If you have trouble finding articles, get an RSS reader. Works a treat.
For a lot of people, getting an RSS reader is just extra hassle. I reckon the old site did a better job of showing the articles.
Yes.. new doesn’t always mean better. I’m with you about the new website
Yup
New does not mean better
if it aint broke, don’t f&$k with it.
I liked the pictures in the article list
LOL, yeah just did a refresh after sitting on the WRC story all day, from old to new!
Did you hear that bang? My brain just exploded. C.A what have you done? This i20 is going to be a big winner. Following on the back of i30’s success.
When is it going to get to Australia?
I’m not sure I like the new site design. Why did you change, CA?
The layout will take a little getting used to but the commenting system seems to be finally up to par with most blogs
Can we have ratings back please?
Yes R32
but the holden fanboys and fordfools don’t really need it made easier for them to have their silly and very long winded spats on here.
For the rest of us meh whats the point
I actually really like the new design. However i must admit it might take a bit of getting used to. The news articles aren’t too hard to get too, i just look at the side bar which lists all new articles. The thing is though, I actually enjoy looking at pictures first :-P and thats what i liked about the old layout.
Really great job guys, keep it up!
I like the brighter look.
I like it!! Sure it takes more getting used to but its more organised and the commenting system is as said, on par. Good stuff!
Agreed! Much more modern. Nice one CA.
I dont think CA considered that running a white screen requires double the energy of a black one. The comments system is very nice but the navigation is a bit hard. Oh yeah can we please have rating system back, it was a load of fun.
What you say can be true for CRT monitors, however the vast majority of PCs now-a-days have LCD screens which means the backlight is still on regardless of if it is showing white or black. Hence the energy requirements with an LCD monitor doesn’t really vary by much, if at all. I would also hazard a guess that the amount of LCD monitors that vary the backlight brightness depending on how much black is being shown (like a growing number of LCD TVs are now) are few and far between. So whilst there would be more energy used with the ‘white’ screen, it would be FAR from double! :-)
Worker safety seem fairly low in Hyundai’s India plant anyone else notice the bloke using the grinder not wearing goggles.
Yeah! I cant believe it, shame on you Hyundai!!
This is very bad sign from Indian perspective.
wow! awesome caradvice! you updated the website! now you can reply! and people can’t thumbs me down :P
There are more comments about the comment format than the article.
Its been about 20 days since I bought my i20. My experience has been great till now. I’ve bought Magna petrol. Bought it from Trident Hyundai, Bangalore.
