Land Rover LRX tipped for 2010 reveal

Land Rover could have a road-going version of its LRX concept vehicle ready by as early as June next year.

The LRX concept made its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show and was also in Melbourne for last year's International Motor Show.

According to UK magazine Autocar, Land Rover has plans to unveil the production version of the LRX on June 17th, 2010, the 40th anniversary of the launch of the brand's original Range Rover model.

Land Rover’s LRX program is said to be progressing quickly, thanks in part to a £27 million grant from the British government, and combined with the added input from Tata – Land Rovers parent company – the LRX shouldn’t have a problem meeting the June 2010 deadline.

It has been speculated that the LRX will be built on the same platform as the current Freelander2 though it is believed a hybrid version is also in the works.

The car should make the transition to production by 2011 with sales to begin a year later.
