I think people are confused about where this is going to sit in the model range. People have referred to the BMW X6 and the Lagonda concept but that's way off the mark. It will handle well and it will have great engines but it's not being pitched as a performance SUV. This will sit below the Range Rover Sport in the general line up. It will probably cost the same as a base Discovery and go up to about mid range Range Rover Sport in pricing.

Given that this is such an "out there" design compared to normal Range Rovers maybe they could come out with a "Performance" division similar to AMG or "M" Division..?

Having said that I'd rather have an X6-M as I think the edgy design could date rather quickly compared to the sleek curves of the BMW - look at all the classic iconic sports cars of the past; like the Aston Martin or Porsche for example.. timeless.

In response to a comment a while back that no one replied to, about toning it down:
Of course they're toning it down, they always tone down concepts, thats why its a concept... *sigh*

Cant wait to see it, looks brilliant!
But where does it fit in the model range?

Can't wait to see it, but does anybody else agree that it's a mistake to call it a Range Rover (it doesn't say it in the article but that is apparently the plan)? Sure, calling it a Range Rover will get more sales, but the Range Rover name needs to keep it's integrity. It already took a blow when the massively impressive but ultimately naff Range Rover Sport came out, I just don't think they should be taking the badge any more down market.
I think the design needs toning down a bit. I think it looks good, but I'm so sick of new Land Rovers being so bling. It's OK on the RRS, but I think this should try and keep an air of class about itself. I hope they at least offer one that doesn't have a honeycomb grill and with smaller wheels. I won't say I'd never buy one, but I wouldn't buy one as pictured.

I'd take an EH over this kooky looking thing any day guv. At least I know its not going to break down every 5 minutes like every other Land Rover in the last 20 years. I wouldnt chance taking one to the shops let alone off-road. I'd post something positive if there was something positive about this car. Only thing positive I see is if I was a pom - oh but hang on, Tata own Land Rover... Do the English make a decent car anymore? Maybe a Caterham or an Ariel Atom. Besides that, be prepared to push.

No need to go on Ashes. We all have rights to our own opinion. ANd in mine this looks much better than the Lagonda concept.

Ashes, the way you are carrying on anyone would think you designed this car yourself. Dry your eyes geeza. I'm sure you probably dont like some cars that I happen to think look OK. Its called an opinion, I got mine, you got yours.

You're a fan of Big wheels eh Yanzo...? So I take it that you're also a fan of non-existent suspension as well? That is you enjoy a bumpy ride so that you feel every undulation and imperfection in the road.

20+ inch wheels may look okay on a Hummer but IMHO on anything else they are nothing more than a w@nk!
