2010 Lexus LS range – first images
August 27, 2009 by Alborz Fallah
The mid-life facelift is generally when a manufacturer adds a few more features, changes the lights, a bumper here and there and keeps the car looking fresh for a few more years. Say hello to the soon to be updated Lexus LS range.
So far as we can tell from this leaked JDM brochure of next year’s Lexus LS range, styling changes include new bumpers for the front and rear as well as a slight modification to the lights and a new set of wheels.
From the inside there are a few minor updates plus sources say there will now be an integrated night vision system (although we’re not sure if that will make it to Australia) for better visibility.
The interesting bit of the leaked news though is the possibility of a performance variant of the LS called “Version SZ”. Currently there is no indication of any power upgrade over the LS460, just a sports kit and more aggressive wheels.
Thanks to Lexus Enthusiast for the pictures.

Well what have they done that for? It looks far more conventional now and the front reminds me more of the Camry than ever. I wrote it about the CX-7, I’ll write it about this; what’s the point in a facelift if you come out looking worse?
However (and you may be able to, I can’t be bothered looking at the enlarged pictures), my main issue with the LS before was that you couldn’t get one without wood trim. Can you now? Some black laquer or silver plastic would do it, but some choice would be nice.
I like the LS, it’s my favourite Lexus, but give me a 740d or a new XJ any day.
On tech and equipment alone the Lexus with beat most hands down. But when it comes to performance and looks definetly not. Although i think the new BMW may have less rear leg room. Also they should allow greater customisation for a company with such wealthy customers, why not put some stupid options and jack up the price. The rich customers will think that they need 40 speakers with seat heaters for their nipples.
Still looks like a Camry.
That is absolutely awful – they’ve ruined what was an-alright car. I don’t actually think the LS has been out for long (2007?) and if this is a mid-life facelift they musnt be planning to keep it for long…
The tail now looks like a Camry (itself just a Corolla) and the front looks half asleep! The biggest problem for Lexus however is that rivals XJ, 7-series, S-class and A8 are actually resonably sporty but the LS is miles off that – the steering is just too light!
Jake02…
thats because LS series is Lexus’s premier LUXURY vehicle.
Its not sports, nor sports-luxury as most european cars are.
Its a very heavy car to start with, and it isnt for the “hoon” demographic… its for the 45+ year olds with massive bank accounts and care about comfort and features as opposed to addrenaline rush.
I think it looks fine for its purpose…. nothing “strong” or offensive on its styling, conservative but perfectly on point with its aesthetics. BMW has their “theme” with the 7 series, so does Audi and Merc…. Lexus has theres too.
Gift-Ed, that’s a Camry – with tint.
Doesn’t compare to the upcoming Audi A8 and the Jaguar XJ.
The first two images, the wheels look like Mazda CX9 wheels. I like the white one, with the black and white interior. Looks nice and cohesive. Not a fan of the hybrid grille though. Although the car looks nice, i think its gone from Vanilla to imitation vanilla.
wow, another ground breaking design from Lexus, looks like its poor brother the Camry.
You should double check the source of these images… they are from Grazio & Co, who is an aftermarket parts supplier for Toyota/Lexus i.e. they do interior and exterior trim upgrades.
The back 3/4 view looks a lot like an Aurion to me.
if i was a celebrity, i’d buy one of these to be driven in, not some fancy phantom, maybach, or bently
black on black on black
“Also they should allow greater customisation for a company with such wealthy customers, why not put some stupid options and jack up the price.”
Ask and ye shall receive…that’s what the “L-Select” program is apparently for, as posted above in thumbnail pic #3.
Its a Aurion with a L badge. I thought Toyota could have done more to differentiate the looks. Maybe it will make the Aurion be seen as more value added. lol.
The worldwide market can’t be wrong. And Lexus are producing what their customers want.
Step into the back seat of one of these and experience what the Aussie rep mobiles like the tax payer funded Holden Grange can’t – pure luxury.
Think you will find Lexus are no longer the Number1 luxury car seller in the States any more,BMW have taken them over. With more boring stuff like this seems people are agreeing and moving over to the Germans.
Im sure Lexus dont manufacture with the Grange in mind Realist ,their market target is with BMW and Mercedes.
Agree with everything Alex said. On the white one, the lower air intakes are just rectangles! They have no style! And when are more ‘F’ versions of Lexus’ coming?
It might be nicely finished and reliable and typically dull to look at and drive but the Lexus range is overpriced to a point that brands with Heritage are just as affordable!
I would rather a Jaguar XF!
Love it. Except for the grille. The tail lights look fascinating
