Nissan Patrol Nismo unveiled in the Middle East

The Nissan Patrol Nismo is the newest – and definitely the most unlikely – model to join the Japanese performance division’s ranks.

Nissan took the wraps off the biggest-ever Nismo-enhanced vehicle at a special launch event in Dubai.

The unveiling marks the introduction of the Nismo performance division to the Middle East, where the “race-inspired” Patrol will be sold alongside the GT-R Nismo and 370Z Nismo.

Nissan believes there is demand in the Middle East for a visually and mechanically enhanced version of the 2.8-tonne SUV.

The Patrol’s 5.6-litre V8 has been tuned to 319kW (up 21kW over the standard engine), while Nissan claims torque output has also been improved across more than 70 per cent of the rev range.

Nismo-tuned suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers are said to improve handling and ride comfort, while body reinforcements lead to more precise steering and quicker response.

Exterior upgrades include 22-inch Rays forged alloy wheels and a signature Nismo aerodynamic body kit, while the cabin gets black and white leather with diamond-pattern stitching, red contrast stitching and piping, a red Nismo tachometer, and entertainment screens in the front headrests for rear-seat passengers.

Nissan hasn't announced any plans to sell the Patrol Nismo in markets outside the Middle East at this stage.
