Spied: 2010 Renault Megane sedan

By Matt Brogan |

Our spy photographers have spotted the next Renault Megane Sedan being tested on the hot roads of southern Spain. The car is a very important seller in South American, Southern European and Eastern European markets.

The new Renault Megane hatchback was launched at the Paris Motor Show last year and is a revolution in car design. We assume this all-new layout will be given to the sedan snapped here, too.

The new Megane is a small family car offered in 3- and 5-door hatchback guise, with other versions like this sedan, but also a coupe, convertible, station wagon and probably a crossover body-style to follow.

Built on the same platform as the Nissan Qashqai, this European Renault will engage in a formidable fight with the Peugeot 308, Fiat Bravo and VW Golf VI, and will obviously be much more than just a mature evolution of the current Megane.

  • Priceless

I wouldn’t call it a, ‘revolution in car design’. The new megane looks like any other small car on the road at the moment. What i don’t understand is why Nissan can’t use this platform for the Tiida!

  • Dude

Usually booted hatchbacks tend to look quite alkward (eg VW Jetta) but from what i can make out the overall proportions look quite attractive.

  • Revhed

‘revolution in car design’ – hmmm – many regard the new generation Megane as a step back towards conservative design for the marque.

  • Shak

I dont regard it as a ‘step’ backwards, i call it a crash and burn. I really dont like the look of the new car.

I think the proportions are great: almost like a mini Alfa 159.

  • Miser

Its not just about design though is it?! The current generation of megane is decades behind in technology, build quality and reliability. They need to put a complete package together, something with a tech wow factor otherwise they will be discounted as a non existant brand that is standing still at best but probably falling behind.
