2016 Subaru Forester facelift revealed ahead of Tokyo show

The facelifted Subaru Forester has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Tokyo motor show, which takes place at the end of the month.

Visually, the revised Forester is distinguished by a new grille, front bumper, and updated headlight and tail-lights graphics. The crossover's 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels are said to be more aerodynamic than the current units.

Equipment upgrades include support for Siri Eyes Free voice recognition for iPhone users, heated rear seats, and memory settings for the driver's electric seat.

Top-spec models will be equipped with LED high and low beam headlights that swivel in response to steering inputs to help vision around corners and intersections, and will feature adaptive beam technology that aims to minimise glare for oncoming drivers.

The updated Forester can also be had with version 3 of Subaru's EyeSight safety system, which now includes lane keeping assistance, and improved pre-collision braking and adaptive cruise control. Other new safety options include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and lane change assistance.

Subaru has also fiddled with the SUV's suspension settings, reduced the steering-gear ratio from 15.5:1 to 14.0:, and added active torque vectoring for turbocharged models.

Thick door glass, improved seals and revisions to the Lineartronic CVT are said to improve the car's quietness. The interior of upscale variants will now include piano black and silver plastic elements, as well as improved leather accents.
