The Nürburgring has a new record holder with the Gumpert Apollo Sport lapping the benchmark circuit in a staggering 7:11.57, more than 10 seconds second clear of the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR.
Only the barely street-legal Radical SR8 has topped this lap time in the production car stakes, but the fact that the Apollo S has a roof, leather interior and air-conditioning makes it far more impressive.

Gumpert Apollo S - Geneva 2010
German supercar manufacturer Gumpert has unveiled the 2010 Apollo S at the Geneva Motor Show with performance enhancements and right-hand drive availability among the key changes.
Improved cooling, new recirculation valves and optimised engine control have boosted power seven percent from 515kW to 551kW.
