Wiesmann Roadster MF5 Frankfurt preview

By George Skentzos |

The Wiesmann GT MF5, a headlining car on the latest Full Throttle tour, is set to receive an open-air sibling with the debut of the Roadster MF5 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

The Roadster MF5 will be produced in a limited edition run of just 55 units worldwide, each boasting a BMW-sourced V10 engine which it shares with the GT.

This engine develops peak power of 378kW and 520Nm, resulting in a top speed of 310km/h and a zero to 100km/h sprint of just 3.9 seconds.

Its exterior will remain largely unchanged from the typical retro-style design, although Wiesmann is keeping tight-lipped on the exact details of its new removable lid.

The Roadster version of the MF5 will gain an extendable rear wing for precise handling on the race track and on the road, coupled with a retuned suspension setup which guarantees stability, even at top speeds.

The torsion-resistant aluminium monocoque with integrated side-impact protection, dual stage driver and passenger airbags, ABS, DSC and many other safety features ensure that the driver still feels safe, even when his endorphin levels are sky high.

I am a massive Wiesmann fan and I can’t wait to see it. I think they look brilliant and they’re a bargain for what they are. I think my favourite will still be the basic (if you can call it that) MF30 roadster; a truly beautiful car that’s wonderful to drive.

    Alex,
you will be happy to hear that Ramspeed (www.ramspeed.com.au) are working on the Australian compliance for the Wiesmann cars. Look out for some news from their end, they seem pretty close to finalising it. Finally a great car will hit our shores. Cant wait.

That rear windscreen looks huge, so do the wheels.

You can drive Ferrari California or for about the same price you can cruise in a Wiesmann. A lot more presence in my humble opinion + what went on with the California name at Ferrari anyway?, Californication? ;)

the stats on the car are nice, but the styling from the back reminds me of a frog. lol
