2016 Peugeot 3008 spy photos

The next-generation Peugeot 3008 has been captured by our spy photographers undergoing some on-the-road testing in sunny southern Europe.

Concrete details about the new Peugeot 3008 are scarce, but these photos reveal that the next-gen car will ditch its people mover styling for a more crossover-style aesthetic.

It won't be the first car to make the jump between these two categories, the Renault Espace executed a similar move last year when fifth-generation people hauler ditched its van-like visage.

Under the skin, the 3008 is likely to be based on the same platform used for the second-generation Peugeot 308 hatch and wagon. If so, expect the 3008 to be powered by a range of three- and four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines.

The current 3008 debuted back in 2008 and is due for a complete renewal soon. Last month, Peugeot announced that it will debut a "dynamic and authentic" concept at the Frankfurt motor show. This vehicle could be a teaser for the next-gen 3008.

Given the fact that the prototype seen here is seems to be wearing production-ready components, it's likely that the new 3008 will debut next year.

The next-gen 3008 could be unveiled as early as the Geneva motor show in March or possibly as late as the Paris motor show, next September.
